Tip: Generally, most tourists book their accommodation within 300m of the Jardim Manuel Bivar plaza and the Doca de Faro. Faro is a compact city and this area covers the main tourist sights, the bus and train stations and popular restaurants.

🏁 One of the access doors to the medieval walls.

It is one of the access doors to the medieval walls. Dating from the 12th and 13th centuries, it dates back to the time of the lunch dynasty. The Christian reconquest gave an impetus for the Arabs to reinforce with two towers, with side entrances, in order to facilitate the defense of the city and to make the enemy's access difficult.

Erected in the 16th century, the Church of São Pedro underwent profound modifications in the wake of the 1755 earthquake.

⛪ Key features include the Mannerist-style portico, dating from the end of the 16th century, incorporating a statue of S. Pedro (St. Peter) to whom the church is dedicated. The interior columns were added in the 18th century reconstruction, designed to resemble those found in the Sé Cathedral in Faro.
